This is definitely not a "standard" story about two marines facing the cruelty of warfare (and hunger) in Iraq.The secret relationship between Skye and his Lieutenant, Hockley, allows Skye to not only notice that something is wrong with his lover, but to go after him to try and find out what it is. What he finds blows his mind (and took me totally by surprise), but the solution is quite ingenious and made for a happy ending. 3.5 stars, really.

    2. 3.5 starsThe contemporary war setting is wonderfully penned out, it becomes the plus and minus point for this story. See, this story is opened with a very good introduction of what Sergeant Skye Lowrey feels and thinks about his Lieutenant -- as well his lover -- Colin Hockley. Readers can feel how (and why) the relationship is being kept under radar due to the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy. You know that something is bothering Hockley and you find yourself in Skye's position, wanting to find out [...]
