    1. Shelly's book gave me a refreshing new look at my southern life! Beautifully written and artfully descriptive as always!

    2. A lovely read! New, fresh and just plain ole good!! Looking forward to reading many more books by Shelly Taylor.

    3. There's a comfort and looseness and a familiar southern language that attracts me. Plus the range of form and way some poems call back to others. Most of the atmosphere here strikes me as historic, so I found it a bit jarring to come across more contemporary references, like Jay-Z. I don't need a book to be boxed into one particular time, but an epigraph or establishing poem or some little thing to prepare me for spanning generations perhaps would have helped me feel more involved.

    4. Lisa let me read this book and I must say, at times, it was extremely difficult. So, I reread it and started to understand how you depicted your life, your family and the world around you. Great book. I Definitely want to read more of your work.

    5. Just got a call from someone in my hometown,he had your book in hand. He was soooo blown away by your use of words and the colorful images they illustrated. He even called a friend to come over, for drinks and reading time! ~I completely agree with him.~ ♥GREAT BOOK♥

    6. Wonderful and descriptive, Taylor tells vivid tales through her words. I highly recommend this book to anyone.

    7. I dig the lyricism, the simultaneous looseness and accuracy of language used here. The Southern Gothic aesthetic is a little too familiar, though--nothing truly magical emerged for me.

    8. Taylor's poems blister in their wild precision. Each one conjures up the liveliness and strangeness of rural America.
