    1. Amazing Joy Buzzards has any number of obvious influences, but it doesn't merely emulate what it seeks to homage. The rock band on the road, solving supernatural mysteries, is reminiscent of everything from Josie & The Pussycats to Scooby Doo, and the members of the band run the gamut from the smart but shy guy, the laconic badass who also happens to be a racecar driver and the chatty, charming frontman who loves the ladies.     2. Quite a few years ago, I was attempting to translate a mystery/romance novel I'd started writing into comic book format. (I recently finished the script for the first issue.) I picked up The Amazing Joy Buzzards to see if I could get any insight into putting music into a graphic novel format, which seemed both odd and difficult to me.     3. While there may be some flaws to this book overall, I think they're made up for by the obvious enthusiasm the creators had when they were working on it. Almost every page reads like these guys were saying "I can't believe we're actually doing this!" out loud in their workroom.A lot of this is silly and obvious, the writing and artwork could use some polishing, but the end result is still pretty fun to read.
