    1. 3.5 stars **Review is slightly spoilerish**This book is the first in a trilogy focused on the Coulter family and begins in 1867. The Coulters are among members of a wagon train heading towards California, a wagon train that left much too late in the season and tarried too many times along the way, plus there's still those big mountains to cross before they reach the promised landOK, here's the deal - this book pretty much reads like a rehash of the Donner Party, only the names have been changed [...]
