    1. This is a delightful book that I wish were pore popular. It is about a lonely little boy who becomes a foster child when his grandfather, with whom he is living, breaks his leg. I love the plain writing and the way Martin teaches himself things. Very much recommended.

    2. I found it interesting. If you've ever been deemed "different" in any negative way, you learn empathy for others in like straits. Having finished reading the book near the end of March, I've forgotten a lot, but I now recall that a grandfather can turn over a new leaf. That, too is worth a lot. I don't remember now whether enemies became friends or were overcome by a show of courage. Some things seemed less than ideal, such as a secondary source for learning important facts of human biology and [...]

    3. Josh told me this was one of his favorite books as a kid and that he really wanted me to read it, so I finally did. The book was good overall, but a little bit upsetting for me personally. It might have more of an impact on other people than it did on me.
