    1. I was fortunate to hear Nicola Campbell read this at Kekuli Cafe in Merritt, near where the book is set. It's exciting to have this book with many words in the traditional language of the area I teach in. Great information about local plants too. The plot really came to life when she read the story and you got a real sense of what her childhood was like.

    2. Incredible title about learning between generations about our natural world. This book raises awareness about endangered Indigenous languages and includes a glossary of words with pronunciations. Local relevance (Interior Salish)

    3. A lovely picture book that attempts to teach some of the words and culture of the Scw'exmx Indigenous people.
