    1. “This looks like one of those Biblical plagues. I expect locusts to pop up at any minute.”New York author Lawrence J. Epstein is a former professor of English at Suffolk County Community College on Long Island where he taught courses writing and journalism as well as on Jewish thought and the Holocaust. He has served as an adviser on the Middle East to two members of the United States Congress. His many publications include Jewish-related books as The Haunted Smile: The Story of Jewish Comed [...]

    2. Lawrence writes in a near conversational style, gradually introducing his characters and the environment in which they find themselves, and then introduces the flags that will point the way toward the evil to come. Powerful tale spinning – beautifully written and rich in suspense and a full taste of American history all related by wholly three-dimensional characters. This book was a well-written book that pulled me in from the very first page. I had no trouble understanding or getting into the [...]

    3. “Chaos: A Tale of Murder and Conspiracy” is actually the first book I have read in this series, even though it is actually the 4th title in Lawrence J. Epstein’s Daniel Levin Mysteries line of novels. I had no trouble understanding or getting into the story, so I figure that each of these books must work fine as a read alone novel as well as a progressive series. I found myself immediately drawn into the story and feeling very sad for Jack, who endured a horrible, senseless tragedy when hi [...]

    4. Another addition to the Daniel Levin series, Chaos: A Tale of Murder and Conspiracy by Lawrence J. Epstein is definitely a interesting read with well fleshed out characters, plenty of history, and a great mystery to boot. As a former English professor, Epstein certainly has honed a fine writing style that borders on conversational, pulling you into the story in a subtle way. The main character, Daniel Levin meets Jack Bell, the year is 1935, and the country is in turmoil. Levin is looking for hi [...]

    5. The setting is the 1930’s dust bowl. Daniel Levin is a private investigator from New York searching for his run away son, David. Jack Bell is a farmer from Oklahoma hunting his wife and unborn baby’s killer. Hannah London is a reporter, determined to make her way in the world, wanting to write about life on the train. The three agree to work together to complete each of their tasks. They follow David across the country just moments behind him as he manages to find himself part of criminal ri [...]

    6. The year is 1935 and the country is riddled with violence, and dust storms that are so mighty they take your breath away, and not in the good way. Our main character Daniel who is a Detective, is searching for his missing son. He meets and teams up with two others, Jack and Hannah and together they try to solve the mysteries that are before them. This book is the 4th in a series but I did not feel that I missed anything by not having read the previous books. The author is able to give us backgro [...]

    7. HOOVERVILLES & POLOTICStime frame was 1935. we still had bread lines ,soup kitchens and hoovervilles but when the chips were down, the star found cash. when a person would steal an apple, he was handing out large amts of cash. he got results. I kinda figured it out, but missed on the real solution. good read. facts, dates and data were all correct. I enjoyed this book. mp

    8. History RepeatedThank you for your story about Daniel Levin and his search for his runaway son. It's very interesting how there was anarchy back in the 1930's and it seems history is being repeated. It was great to see goodness portrayed over evil. I enjoyed the storyline and the many characters.
