    1. My Thoughts-Loved this book! I always get excited when I find something that is new and creative, and this book fits the bill. The whole book I was kept on the edge of my seat, wondering about the gate keeper and how the old evil might invade the town. Of course, the town is already in a forever darkness, which the author does a great job in telling with backstory. It all ties together so well.Wyatt is a courageous boy who previously was picked on and kind of small, but in Davenport, where he ha [...]

    2. Read the full review on talesbetweenthepages The Midnight Glass: A Not-So-Dark Fantasy for Young Readers The Midnight Glass is a solid read for ages nine and up. Though labeled "dark fantasy," I believe the story is suitable for children as young as seven. Meaning, it isn't that dark. The city of Davenport is my favorite thing about this novel. It's a richly imagined city with interesting creatures and "technology" (the anti-gravity race is super cool) and enough intrigue to last for several book [...]

    3. I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. You can read the entire review at Of Books and PenFinal Thoughts:This is a pretty good book to read, especially if you’re still in the mood for monsters, paranormal, or mystery. I recommend this book for parents to read to their children, or for children that want something new to read. I must advise caution though. There is death in this book and mentions of suicide. One character actually has a bit of a gruesome death, ev [...]

    4. The Midnight Glass, written by D.T. Vaughn, is a great dark fantasy for Middle-Grade readers. With just the right amount of creepiness, readers will be eager to learn more about Davenport without being too scared to read in the dark. Readers will identify with Wyatt as he is bullied at his school and then doesn’t quite fit in at his new school in Davenport either. As Wyatt makes friends and stands up to bullies, children will root for him. Adding in all the fantasy elements, including curses a [...]

    5. What a dark and twisted world Wyatt has moved to! He and his is family have no idea what to expect when they first move to Davenport. His mother has been offered a job, and the family moves to the new town sight unseen. Starting a new school with creatures he thought only existed in myths and legends as his classmates, Wyatt learns that kids are kids no matter what they look like, and that bullies are pretty much the same everywhere. When strange things start to happen (even stranger than having [...]

    6. I really enjoyed reading this book and even though it's technically a kids book, it's a great read for all ages! I could barely put it down - was too excited to know what would happen next. I can't wait for Wyatt's adventures to continue - hopefully we'll get another installment soon!! Highly recommended!

    7. Firstly, though the story takes a while to get up and running, I felt, it has a terrific climax and a couple of well-kept surprises at the end. Secondly, there's a lot of imagination at play here, and Vaughn creates a inventive magical world, one with links to the ordinary everyday, but also with its own peculiar (some of them very peculiar) features. Harry Potter seems to be lurking in the background - two boys and a girl are the main protagonists, the girl being the 'sensible' one, and the sec [...]

    8. Love this book! Although this is ages 9+, I thoroughly enjoyed it as a 30-yr old who grew up reading Harry Potter. With smooth & descriptive writing, D. T. Vaughn creates great & important themes for kids, as well as humorous parts for adults. I was instantly intrigued by the town of Davenport & the magical world that Wyatt enters. Principal Hemlock's soy lattes & Roxanne's moodiness were some of my favorite parts! But how the book's mysteries all come together at the end was tru [...]
