    1. 3 Stars! For Want of a Christmas Miracle is a very short and sweet holiday novella by author Olley White. It is also the first book in her Holiday Hopes series. This is one of those books that you pick up when you want a sugary tale of love destined to put you in a happy and sappy frame of mind. Just the kind of book you want to devour in one sitting while drinking your favorite holiday drink. After losing his job as a gardener, Rhys takes on a temporary position at a locally owned nursery. Rhys w [...]

    2. Can I tell you guys a secret?Come closer.Closer.Okay. I don't really like Christmas stories. So each year I pick only a few to read. I'm super glad I chose to read this one.Toby and Rhys really wanted my heart. I thought their relationship was adorable, sweet, without any unnecessary anguish added to it. Sometimes, especially with light-hearted Christmas stories, I just want to read things that don't cause me stress or anxiety, just tell a story about two people meeting and falling for each othe [...]

    3. At the risk of total epic fail (because I'm human; I know I missed things), I edited this. Thanks, Olley, for going with me through the journey of my first editing job at a publisher. I appreciate your patience and kindness throughout the process, and I think it ended up with a really lovely little Christmas story product. So if you like something nice and fluffy, the kind of story you'll just curl up with a cup of cocoa and read, this is likely it. It's not earth shattering; it's not supposed to [...]

    4. 4.5 starsSqueeeeeeee! *hugs Kindle* I am so ready to binge on holiday romances and this was the perfect start.Rhys had recently lost a gardening job he loved, but finds work at a locally owned nursery. It wasn't exactly what he wanted to be doing, but it was work, if only temporary.Toby's the owner of the garden center and hired Rhys as an extra hand during the holiday season. He and Rhys spent their time in the tree department helping families pick out the perfect Christmas trees. Ahh, Christma [...]

    5. 4 starsThis was a lovely holiday romance with a nice mix of attraction, a little steam and a healthy dose of Christmas "feel goodedness". When the recently jobless gardener Rhys takes a temporary holiday contract at Toby's garden store, he was just looking to pay the bills. He wasn't looking to become attracted to his new boss. But, well, it is Christmas time

    6. I've read so many amazing Christmas stories the last few weeks I was bound to come across one I didn't like. This was it.This had way to much tell and almost no show. 'He did this, he said that.'The story was quite boring.(I just don't get all excited about a gardener and the owner of a garden center making puppy dog eyes at each other)It wasn't awful, but I was mostly bored out of my mind. And when I was thinking it needed a good dose of sex to spice things up, most of the sex happened off page. [...]

    7. GAH! I wanted to like this more than I did. Don't get me wrong, it was still cute, but I was expecting more. I LOVED Toby and Rhys together and I wanted to see more of that. I wanted more couple time. (view spoiler)[I take it Rhys didn't ever leave Toby's store? Is he the gardener now? It's little things like that that I missed in this story. What was the age difference between them?(hide spoiler)]Adored Toby's dad! I think if it would have been longer, I could have enjoyed it more. Overall, it [...]

    8. Perfect for a Christmas read but even more perfect after a freezing cold, crap day in January, when all you want to do is go home and curl up with a delicious sexy read. You can tell the author is British because it's utterly charming, the characters are sweet and so likeable with a pinch of English mustard to heat things up. But the real beauty, is the simple storyline - Rhys gets hired by Toby to help out in his Gardening Centre over the Christmas period. See? Simple. Except that Rhys isn't ex [...]

    9. Read by Jay Chase for QUEERcentric BooksFor Want of a Christmas Miracle by Olley White is sweet and full of Christmas cheer.Olley White could have taken us on an angst filled adventure, but instead we are given a fluffy and sweet Christmas romance with the unlikely pairing of Rhys the scrooge and good-natured Toby.Heading into the Christmas season, Rhys loses his dream gardening job. Needing work, he takes a job at the local nursery. This isn’t the job he wants, but hey, work is work, even if [...]

    10. Such a great short holiday read!Rhys is an out of work gardener who finds a seasonal job at a garden center. Even being around the hustle and bustle of the holidays, Rhys is having a hard time getting into the spirit of the season. Toby, the owner of the garden center has taken a huge risk in doubling his holiday Christmas tree stock, he will need a Christmas miracle to pull off the biggest gamble of his professional life. When an accident with Toby's Dad keeps him away from the store at a crucia [...]

    11. 4+ starsThis was a great Christmas story for me. It's sweet & sentimental with a bit of heat. Can't go wrong with that combination or with Lolley's writing and sense of humor (humour). Recommended!

    12. Wonderfully sweet holiday story. One of my favorites this year. Toby and Rhys are delightful together, and the things they bring out in each other are what make this feel delightfully Christmassy.

    13. 3.5 Sweet, though the "risk" that he took really wasn't worked up all that much. But I liked the gardener and the Garden Center owner, plus dad was awesome!

    14. 3.5 starsSynopsis: Rhys has been fired from his regular gardening job because his boss is giving his nephew a job. So, Rhys takes a job at a gardening store over the holidays. He doesn't really do well with people in large amounts, so Rhys pretty much volunteers to work outside with the Christmas trees. His boss, Toby, took over the store from his father, and he doesn't like making his staff work in inclement weather, so he also works outside. When it turns out that one of the chain stores is win [...]

    15. It was a nice book. The characters were good but not was charming as I would expect. They made a lovely couple and had some sweet moments, but I have to say that this was so much hotter than I’m used from the author. Not a bad thing, but I guess I prefer the sweeter books. It was overall a good book, not my favorite from the author but I did liked it.

    16. For Want of a Christmas Miracle is the first book in the ‘Holiday Hopes’ series. It’s told in third person through the eyes of Rhys, an out of work gardener, and Toby, the owner of a local garden centre. From the way the story reads, I’m guessing it’s set in Britain.(view spoiler)[First I’d like to start with the cover. It’s eye-catching and very holiday looking, I like it a lot.I had high hopes for this book, it’s the kind of story I enjoy reading. It sounded like a comfy, low a [...]

    17. 3.5 stars - Reviewed on The Blogger Girls. All Rhys wants is to be a gardner but when he’s laid off from his job, he takes one at the local gardner center. It’s not as bad as he expected when he gets to spend all his time outside and with his hunky new boss, Toby. Toby inherited the gardner center from his father and he’s doing his best to turn it around even when that means making a risky move. When that move turns out to not be as profitable as expected, Rhys takes it upon himself to help [...]

    18. Rhys + TobyREVIEW COMING SOON @Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words2.75 starsHonestly For Want of a Christmas Miracle by Olley White was not a success to me. I love a holiday story and I read a lot of them this past December. Although it was a lovely read it wasn’t what I was hoping for in a Christmas story. First of all, it lacked in clarity about the characters, starting with their ages for example or more background.Something in the writing then didn’t work well. Not sure yet what it was bu [...]

    19. Rhys has lost his gardening job and takes a job working at Toby's Gardening center. He's not comfortable working indoors and soon he and Toby are working outside in the Christmas tree lot by themselves. They soon realize they have more in common than just liking the outdoors. I enjoyed this story, but I would have liked to know if Rhys ended up with his own business or working for Toby.
