    1. About seven years ago, my friend Art gave me the book Visioneering: God’s blueprint for developing and maintaining personal vision by Andy Stanley. Seven years ago is a guess: my memory of him giving me the book is more strongly tied to the time shortly after graduating from college, which was about seven years ago. He was trying to off-load the book, I believe; and I still was of the mindset that books were awesome. I had this grand scheme that during my lifetime I wanted to amass a huge and [...]

    2. I'm on page 100 of VISIONEERING BOOK: an extremely timely book, to remind me of my focus. A book to sharpen one's vision and remind of who the author and finisher of the vision really is. I am newly inspired, more so than I have been in a very long time.

    3. Don't make the mistake I did when I dismissed this book as yet another in the growing you-can-be-anything-you-want-to-be-as-long-as-you-follow-your-heart genre. Stanley unashamedly embraces two realities: the Gospel of Christ, and the glory of God. (I know they're the same reality, but we speak of them in different ways.) He then uses Nehemiah as an extended case study to show the power and challenge of a vision (in the motivational sense, not mystical), encouraging us to recognize and fulfill o [...]

    4. With so much to do every day, I find myself struggling to remained focused on the God-ordained vision for my life. Everyone has one, you may just not have found it yet. This book takes you on a journey through many stories, including CEOs and Nehemiah, where the person treads through the good and bad but is constantly focused on their God-ordained vision for their life. Here is the concluding few paragraphs of the book that nicely summarize the author's point: "Everybody has a mental picture wha [...]

    5. I was skeptical about this book at first but soon realized how valuable this book can be at the right time. The author takes the book of Nehemiah and breaks down the story encouraging the reader to, "stay on your wall", whatever that might be. In an age of instant gratification, this is vital for your vision to be successful. There is a common belief out there describing "green lights" in your vision as everything going well for you. Andy makes it clear, you most often will encounter trial and d [...]

    6. Practical book about pursuing your visionWe always hope of having 1 grand vision, but reality is that we have different normal visions in different areas of our lives. This book is for people with a grand vision and for people, like me, with ordinary visions.

    7. This book has been around for a while, but it was a new read to me. Whether you have a huge, world changing vision, or a small personal vision for your life, this book is for you. It is encouraging and uplifting whatever stage of the vision process you are in.Having and knowing God is with us and has a good future and destiny for you makes this book a step above any other self-help book on this subject. Ultimately whatever God desires for our lives can not compare to any earthly treasure or acco [...]

    8. I really enjoyed this book. Whether you want to develop a vision for your church, ministry, family or organization, this book takes you through the book of Nehemiah and pull out insights and wisdom to help you with cast and carry out your vision. I love that Andy pointed out that our vision is ultimately about God and His Glory. Read this book and go do something!

    9. Probably one of the best books I've read on leadership. Now, Stanley doesn't include the statistics and figures and charts and graphs that other leadership authors might effectively invoke. Instead, he examines the biblical story of Nehemiah and extracts key leadership principles from Nehemiah's story. Some chapters are relatively weak, but most are powerful, containing the perfect mixture of explanation, illustration, and application, while remaining all together inspiring. Many books that attem [...]

    10. Using an insightful discussion at the book of Nehemiah, Stanley explains important nuggets about finding and sticking with a God-given vision. The book definitely challenges Christian leaders in several areas (core beliefs, vision casting, avoiding distractions, etc.) It is well worth reading when you see something that SHOULD be different in your family, organization, neighborhood, etc. and perhaps God is calling you to make a difference. A true Godly vision, though, will end with Him - an awes [...]

    11. Andy Stanley does an excellent job of describing how to establish and maintain a God-ordained vision for one's life. He makes a strong case that people should have a vision or visions that set the course for one's family, business, ministry, and personal life. Stanley uses the Old Testament book of Nehemiah to illustrate how visions are birthed, developed, and maintained. He sprinkles in appropriate stories drawn from his life and others to add support to his points. I found his ideas to be comp [...]

    12. "I'm afraid too many of us are content to set ourselves apart by bumper stickers and schedules. I've yet to hear a story of a Christian motorist being flagged down by another driver who was pierced to the heart by the sight of a fish on the back of a car."Our God given visions (desires) are conceived to bring us to a deeper knowledge of God & His power thus bringing us a greater faith in who He is. When God works through us the world sees the power of God and men are draw to Him.

    13. Borrowed from my church mate. A book that changed my perspective about vision. One of the best books that I've read in my life. Great read, great stories from the Bible and from various testimonies about different people. It is a book that spoke to me during the times of searching and discerning His call for me.

    14. I listened to this one as an audio book, but had I a copy of the book in person, there would have been hundreds of times I underlined something or read and re-read Andy Stanley's words of wisdom. Would definitely recommend this one to anyone who has a big vision for their lives.

    15. I highly recommend this book even if you are not religious. Andy Stanley has a way of reaching you in a way that is practical, logical, and spiritual.

    16. While this book is nearly 20 years old, the message still rings true! This book is a suggested read for those who are unsure what they are doing in their life.

    17. This was another one of those books that proved to be life changing for me. Andy Stanley is one of my favorite teachers/preachers. Although he tends to speak similtaneously to business leaders and Church leaders alike, I find that beyond that he speaks primarily as a pastor. His book Visioneering is no different. At once a blueprint applicable to personal life, business model or Church leadership, he writes with a conviction and belief of principles that speak to the guiding force of life in gen [...]

    18. BUILDING BLOCKS OF VISION FROM “NEHEMIAH”1. A vision begins as a concern.2. A vision does not necessarily require immediate action.3. Pray for opportunities and plan as if you expect God to answer your prayers.4. God is using your circumstances to position and prepare you to accomplish his vision for your life.5. What God originates, he orchestrates.6. Walk before you talk; investigate before your initiate.7. Communicate your vision as a solution to a problem that must be addressed immediate [...]

    19. Visioneering is a great book on accomplishing the vision that God has given you for your life. Visioneering is written by Andy Stanley. In this book, Andy walks through the book of Nehemiah and pulls principles and application from it for our lives. Some people will dream great dreams and never pursue or chase after them. They will be just dreams. Other people will begin to pursue their vision and realize half way in that it is difficult and hard work. These people will give up and toss in the to [...]

    20. Visioneering was a great novel! It was so inspiring and encouraging in many ways concerning the vision God has placed in my heart!Andy used the story of Nehemiah as well as some personal stories to show that a God-given vision can go from what it could be to should be. It won't happen though some random miracle, but as Andy points out through the telling of Nehemiah's vision being fulfilled that it's faith, trust in God, and hard work. The task might seem very daunting at times, but that doesn't [...]

    21. Using Nehemiah and the rebuilding of the wall in 52 days, Andy Stanley explores the behaviors and characteristics of a visionary leader. It's the best, biblical-based look at visioning our lives that I've read to date. It's packed with sound wisdom but that which stood out to me most were "moral authority" and "focus". Moral authority is what ultimately allows you to have influence that far exceeds whatever vocational position you may occupy. Nehemiah was a cupbearer for the king. Yet, he was ab [...]

    22. I discovered "Visioneering" after completing a YouVersion reading plan based on the book.Through an interlibrary loan, I obtained a copy and read it in a little over a week. I kept having to remind myself I couldn't highlight anything or make any notes in it, which tells me I need my own copy! Plus, the version I read is an early edition. It was recently revised and updated. I think I would enjoy a more modern edition, as some of the illustrations were a bit stale.Stanley weaves in the story of [...]

    23. I’ve mentioned before how much I appreciate the teaching and leadership of Andy Stanley. No, I’ve never met him, but I’ve been listening to his podcasts and reading his books for a while now and I feel like I know him. VISIONEERING is a combination of VISION and ENGINEERING. Planning and putting plans into motion. It’s a practical guideline that addresses everything from idea conception to realized vision (and back again).Using the backdrop of the Biblical account of Nehemiah and his que [...]

    24. One word to describe Andy Stanley's work -- Outstanding! Andy puts on a visioneering clinic with the help of Nehemiah. Insightful and practical for discovering, communicating, and maintaining one's vision.

    25. Allrighty! Visioneering by Andy Stanley was a really good book. It challenged me to start running after the visions God has given me. I was encouraged that no God-given vision is too small to be worth pursuing. And I think my favorite tidbit of wisdom was how the book consistently pointed to obedience to God as the main vision that drives all other God-given visions. If I'm not walking in obedience and surrender, I won't be able to do much else worth doing. So that part convicted me. I also love [...]

    26. I was assigned this book for a leadership course that I am facilitating for a graduate program. Although I have read several of Stanley's books, I had not yet read this one. I thoroughly enjoyed this, as he guides the reader through the vision-casting process. It is not necessarily a step-by-step process as much as it is an overarching thematic study of vision-casting based on a study of Nehemiah. Stanley does, however, offer several principles and exercises through the book that continue to bui [...]

    27. I want to give this book 5 stars. I absolutely LOVE Andy Stanley and I love leadership, however I didn't have this drive to run back to this book in order to keep reading it. I would probably give it 3.5 stars if I could. The principles were solid and the correlation with the life of Nehemiah was great. However, it just lacked something for me. It's worth a one time through, but I probably won't reread this one for awhile. The two life changing quotes I received from this book: "I am doing a goo [...]
