    1. A wonderfully sweet Christmas book for young children with pencil drawings so realistic I almost expected the animals to move and evocative words bringing the surroundings to life. Great for reading aloud, and it would make an excellent gift book. I'm planning to buy a copy!Disclaimer: I received a free copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

    2. Review: THE LITTLE CHRISTMAS TREE by Andrea SkevingtonA different approach to the Christmas Nativity, THE LITTLE CHRISTMAS TREE tells the tale of how several different trees approach the advent of a terrible storm. Most are determined to fight it out, but the little fir tree's compassion for the nearby wildlife provides them shelter during the storm, and earns the fir tree stars.Too much text for very young children, but slightly older children can enjoy being read to

    3. I have to admit that I love Christmas kids books and this one was no exception. A sad story about a tree that didn't fit in, but how it saved the day for some very cold animal friends, unlike its counterparts were able to do. This book was just pure sweet holiday read for your young reader, partnered with the lesson to celebrate diversity and differences. What really made this book stand out were its illustrations which were just pure magical. There was just something warm and inviting about the [...]

    4. I requested this children's book because I live Christmas themed things. I love Christmas time. It is a time of merriment and love and even though it is cold outside there is warm in homes and fuzzy clothing. I love everything about this time of year. The Little Christmas Tree is about a little fir tree who shows its love to woodland creatures on the first Christmas and is rewarded for that effortless decision to care for others. It is a very cute tale and the illustrations are absolutely beauti [...]

    5. This is an adorable little book. The text is brief and to the point - ideal for a new young reader or as a read-a-loud book. The illustrations are beautiful - very realistic and really get the mood and atmosphere of the story through to the reader. It is a brilliant introduction to the animals of the forest and of the many different types of tree there are around us. It also serves as a gentle reminder to any young reader that to give to others without thought of receipt of anything for yourself [...]

    6. On Christmas Eve, a huge storm is coming to the forest. The animals are frightened and are trying to find shelter. The large trees laugh at the storm and do not help the animals. The smallest of the trees, the little fir tree, offers them shelter and they are all safe. At the same time a baby is born and the stars come down to celebrate. They also head to the forest and land on the branches of the Little Fir Tree with love. Of course the lesson of being rewarded for doing good to others with no [...]

    7. A storm is coming. Frightened animals run, looking for shelter. A little fir tree, the smallest tree of all, sings softly of love while all the trees around her laugh at her and sing of how strong they are. Soon branches break off of the big tress, and the forest animals find shelter in the loving arms of the little fir tree. On this special night, the little tree is going to receive a gift given occasionally to those who love. This is a beautifully told, simple tale that will warm the hearts of [...]

    8. I was not a particular fan of this story. It started out pretty bleak and remained that way through a good portion of it. It did, however, eventually perk back up near the end. I wish the story had more to it and had been happier for more of it. I mean, it is a story about Christmas! In regards to the artwork, it was pretty and nice to look at.This review is based on an eARC provided by the publisher via Netgalley. You can find more of my reviews here:readingwithcupcakes/

    9. This book is a sweet story that brings home the message of love at Christmas. My daughter loves this story and we are adding it to our must read every year Christmas book list. The pictures are beautiful and the story is wonderful. The small tree that was teased gets the reward for showing love and taking care of the forest animals. It is a feel good story. Disclosure: I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

    10. I didn't enjoy this book at all and the two children I read it too didn't seem to like it either. The huge trees of the forest fight the storm whilst the little fir tree shelters the animals and keeps them safe from the storm. But no one is harmed. That night a baby is born and stars are sent to him. They stop at the fir tree who has shown true love and kindness to the animals and ignore the mighty trees.

    11. There are some really lovely images in this book that help to illustrate the tales contained within. Sadly for me the stories didn't really go anywhere. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

    12. This book is a beautiful retelling of the night of the Nativity from the viewpoint of a fir tree. My children were entranced by the beautiful illustrations and particularly by the last line: 'And, still today, stars may fall on the place where there is love'.
