    1. This was a very good story but it didn't pull me in the way other stories do. The story had its ups & downs I am sorry but other people that go for these stories will certainly will love this book it was a good story so please go read it for your self and let people know what you think. My thanks for my friend for giving me this book. So to all happy reading from me.

    2. Mixed feelings about the book - generally interesting two main characters, both with 'back stories', but felt there was a little bit too much of the 'chopping and changing dates' and going back to their previous lives, too often. Also, may have been me, but I found it a bit over-long. Seems to take me forever to read it!

    3. I really struggled to gain any momentum with this book. I got to page 150 and am sorry to say I just couldn't continue. I will try this book again at a later date to see if I can get more involved in it then, but at this stage it just didn't take my interest.

    4. One New Year’s Eve Jack meets Elsa and they get together. Life seems to be looking up when Jack gets a coveted job on the Golden Gate Bridge and they board the plane to San Francisco full of hope and happiness. Jack is prepared to bed in and get to know his colleagues while Elsa is on a tourist visa so she is free to explore the city, make friends and keep house. An optional extra to Jack’s new job is to be on call for the ‘jumpers’, those men and women who have decided that leaping from [...]

    5. I first heard about Nicci Cloke through Drink, Shop & Do – our local haunt in King’s Cross – as she is involved in their literary Speakeasy events. I was actually meant to go to the event on Tuesday showcasing ten new exciting writers for 2015, but as previously mentioned I have the plague. I did, however, go to the Speakeasy event where Jessie Burton did a reading from The Miniaturist, which was pretty damn cool. I had also heard v. good things about her first novel, Someday Find Me, [...]

    6. You can also read this review on my blog toomanybooksnotenoughtime.wor This book was a great exploration of what can happen to a relationship when the two people involved don’t talk to each other.Initially I was swept away by the romance of the book, that after such a short time together Jack asks Elsa to move to America with him because he has got his dream job working on the Golden Gate Bridge. However, once they arrive in San Francisco Jack turns into a complete bastard. He’s dragged Elsa [...]

    7. I was drawn to this book because it is set in San Francisco, a place I fell in love with on a road trip two years ago, so I looked forward to revisiting through these pages. There is definitely a strong sense of place in the story, as the hero Jack moves there to take up his dream job working on the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. With him is Elsa, his girlfriend of less than a year, who impulsively leaves her home in England to go with him on a tourist visa. They are very much in love, but are soon [...]

    8. Jack and Elsa meet at a New Year Party and when he accepts a job in San Francisco on the Golden Gate Bridge she goes with him. She becomes increasingly isolated as he starts to socialise with his workmates - and we are also treated to chapters that explain their past.Part of Jack's job is to try and stop the 'jumpers' on the bridge and that is the unusual aspect of this book. I could see that the would be more secure on the bridge and not frightened of the heights- but wouldn't be trained negoti [...]

    9. The book was way too descriptive for my liking. I do not care what colour the rag that bartender was using in circular motions to clean the bar. Or how muscles get taut whilst walking. I don't think I made it past 20 pages.

    10. This book was a bit disappointing. had a steady flow and failed to finish with a brilliant ending like any book should. in the end i read it because i'd got so far but couldn't wait for it to finish.
