    1. Concluding the trilogy about an Anglo-Irish family. In the early years of the twentieth century, Cornelia Winship who grew up in America, marries a titled British man but swiftly finds that gambling and drinking are his major preoccupations - and he says all her money is now his. After this well-drawn, empathetic start the rest of the book contains many more accounts of background history and politics, making it read more as a history lesson than a fiction, which is why I am not giving this volu [...]

    2. In the third installment of this multi-generational family saga, World War I brings changes to the Winships, while James returns to his roots, championing Irish home rule, a question which had languished in Britain’s parliament for some 30 years. After a fairly pointless preface in which Winston and Randolph Churchill discuss James’ death on the eve of World War II, McCarthy gets back his stride as he relates with all his usual page-turning élan, events leading to that point. While not rev [...]

    3. Given To Me For An Honest ReviewIn this third book of the trilogy the story continued to flow, the action moved quickly and end the conclusion was a natural one. The realities of war and the same thing throughout the trilogy was the costly amount because of the Irish Independence. If you have a great interest in Irish history, Churchill or just want to have a fantastic read at home then I recommend this Trilogy. I gave each of the books 5 stars but I wish I could give more. I highly recommend the [...]

    4. The Epic Wrapup and great finale for the Winship family and Irish Independance.A powerful story about Irish-British history. McCarthy did a great job in waiving the family story and struggles of Winship family with a real characters and events in the Irish History. The story is smooth and interesting, entwined with a duel, rivalry, family feuds, lots of conflict and action and a great finale but with some sorrowful deaths.

    5. Book Three of The Winship Family continues with the lives of James, Emily, Cornelia and William. The Winshp's are still bitter rivals with the Sudbury family. In this novel, big changes happen for James Winship. William and Brenden fight in the Great War. This novel blends family drama with historical drama. The Winship Family series is a thrilling ride through Irish history and the struggle for independence.
