    1. ”Dangerous days, these. All of them. Trying too hard can be dangerous. If in doubt not try; simply do it. If you’ve done it, and if you are still in doubt it again, but this time do it harder. Then once morewith feeling. With conviction. On dangerous days, it is always best to do it hardest the first time.”Most lives are fairly uncomplicated. If someone were to follow most of us around for a week, they would soon be yawning over the predictable pattern of our lives. Our veneer life is usua [...]

    2. A Dark, Serpentine Crime Thriller“Dangerous days, these. All of them. Trying too hard can be dangerous. If in doubt do not try; simply do it.”Thus begins Frank Westworth’s debut novel “A Last Act of Charity” with wise words Master Yoda would approve of. "A Last Act of Charity" is the first book in the Killing Sisters series. Following a gruesome murder, it shifts to JJ Stoner—a good looking, lethal blues musician—in a coffee shop. He’s accosted by a stranger, who wasn’t prepare [...]

    3. Frank Westworth is clever chasing characters into extreme situations. It is a scary story. I welcome Frank's achievement. Charity knew all the signs of dangerous days. She knew her sister's days were extremely deadly dangerous. Blood everywhere was a trademark of Charity's sister. And where there was blood there was a body.

    4. A Last Act of Charity: Never a Dull Moment‘A Last Act of Charity’ is a truly unique reading experience. The author, Frank Westworth, injects style, pace and energy into a witty, thrilling, and sometimes sickening story. The plot is mainly driven by independent snoop, contract killer, VW van/Harley-Davidson enthusiast, master blues guitarist, frequent drinker, and the very pragmatic JJ Stoner. With such a resume, needless to say Stoner is an interesting man, and delivers a brutal and gutsy per [...]

    5. After I finished this book - which I received free in exchange for a review - the first thing that came to mind is how on earth to describe it. The writing is tedious, ponderous and downright esoteric in spots. The experience was a lot like driving through a heavy snowstorm; if you don't maintain total concentration, you could end up where you don't want to be. Put another way, don't even think about breezing through this one with one eye on the Ohio State game on TV.That said, it's very well do [...]

    6. Hold on to your seats for this one.If you were to combine the Jack Reacher series of novels with the "Kill Bill" films by Quentin Tarantino you would just scratch the surface of Frank Westworth's A LAST ACT OF CHARITY. JJ Stoner has spent most of his adult life as a killer. It began in the military and later progressed to work as a mercenary where his expertise was sold to the highest bidder. Of course, there were always the occasional kills done purely for personal pleasure. Now, Stoner is tryin [...]

    7. I won this book on a goodread giveaway Not only a book but my first guitar lesson . The plot seemed to go off in tangents at times but upkeeping with the characters so worked well Many Thanks

    8. There’s an awful lot about this book which I adore. Some of the writing does exactly what the author intended and stops you dead in your tracks, either choked with emotion or wide-eyed flabbergasted at what just happened. Then there's the sudden death, weird sex and philosophical investigations. And the deft dialogue which veers from chuckle-butt banter one second to murderous menace the next. Or the oppressive sense of claustrophobia which cloaks much of this first book in the Killing Sisters [...]

    9. A LAST ACT OF CHARITY BY FRANK WESTWORTH5 StarsSex, Betrayal and Murder - A Heady Concoction! The first volume in the Killing Sisters series introduces JJ Stoner, ex-contract killer turned investigator. JJ is pressured by government spooks to throw light on a series of grisly killings in hotel rooms. He suspects a man – perhaps two men – to be behind them, but cannot deduce any logical motive, nor why the bodies, or what’s left of them, are subsequently filmed and the footage transmitted to [...]

    10. In the military his kills were government-sanctioned. As a mercenary they were privately contracted. He doesn't mention the other kills, those of his own initiative Although I enjoy a good crime/thriller, this book had too many chapters on guitars & motorcycles which didn't really add to the story. Nor did the weird sex scenes. Less is more in my mind and too many explicit sex scenes often disguise a bad storyline. However, putting the above aside, there is a good underlying story in this boo [...]
