    1. I couldn’t put When Grace Sings by Kim Vogel Sawyer down. It is an enthralling book that captures the reader’s attention from the very beginning. It is the second book in the Zimmerman Restoration Trilogy and is just as good as the first book. I cannot wait to read the conclusion. I had not previously read this author before delving into the first book but I plan on reading more of her books. The author really knows how to pull you into the character’s lives in such an intimate way that yo [...]

    2. Reviewed at The Power of Words: bit/1FCK9z0When Grace Sings is simply a beautiful, moving and poignant story. I'm the perfect audience for character-driven stories, which is something Kim Vogel Sawyer does extremely well. But even more than the rich characterization, she builds emotion into fascinating storylines and never fails to clearly present the gospel message in a way that flows naturally with the story.Set in an Old Order Mennonite community in Arborville, Kansas, When Grace Sings is boo [...]

    4. Probably my favourite book by Kim Vogel Sawyer -- and that's saying something since I missed Book 1 in the Zimmeran Restoration Trilogy! Sawyer does an excellent job of infusing the pertinent bits from the first book into this one so there's no confusion. Mind you, my curiosity is piqued and I can't go without reading When Mercy Rains so look for it in a retro Saturday sometime soon. This is the kind of emotional roller coaster ride I love to read. The author tells the story through multiple vie [...]

    5. When Grace Sings is book two in The Zimmerman Restoration Trilogy. The first two books of the series have been such a joy to read! I seemed to fly through the pages in order to find out what secrets would be revealed next. I definitely recommend reading book one, When Mercy Rains, first. Otherwise, you may find yourself very confused about the secrets that swirl around this interesting Old Order Mennonite family.Another thing to be prepared for with both of these books is that the problems that [...]

    6. MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOKAfter reading book one in this series, I will excited about reading When Grace Sings. Alexa is now running her B&B, Grace Notes at her grandmothers house. But she never thought she would be hosting her cousin, Anna-Grace Braun. Though Alexia knew the truth about what happened years ago, Anna-Grace had no idea. So when Alexia agreed to host Anna-Grace at the B&B, she was the one that had no idea how she could be in the same house together with Anna-Grace. And with [...]

    7. This book nearly got four stars. I enjoyed it a lot and want to read more in the series. I especially liked the parts with Alexa and her grandmother. In fact, right off the bat I can't think of anything about Alexa that I didn't like. There were times when I didn't agree with what she did, and I wanted to knock her over the head, but her character was very believable and relatable. I also enjoyed Anna-Grace's parts. She was realistic as well and a character who was very content with life, which [...]

    8. This is book 2 in The Zimmerman Restoration Trilogy series and let me tell you - the plot thickens - leading me to believe book 3 is going to be explosive! This is one of those series you should read in order but it's not necessary. Ms. Sawyer has a wonderful, gently way of writing that lets the Grace of God shine through in her words. Is there conflict - sure but it is done in such a way that it enriches the story instead of bringing negativity into it.Alexa and Anna-Grace are forever united by [...]

    9. When Grace Sings, By: Kim Vogel SawyerThis is book two in the Zimmerman Restoration Trilogy. It is an excellent book by Kim Vogel Sawyer. You are easily drawn into this story. It feels as though you are almost a part of the story. Such a connection with the characters in this story. This story makes one stop and think that you don’t have to hide from things that have happened in your life. That if we take the time to open our hearts and accept the gift before us that we would receive Grace. A [...]

    10. If you want a good book that will encourage you in your faith this one will do it! I love this author's writing style it flows so beautifully. The title's theme is woven throughout the story. This is book 2 in the series and it picks up right where book 1 leaves off. It had a satisfying ending yet left just enough questions to make me want to pick up book 3 and start it as soon as possible.

    11. Title: When Grace Sings (The Zimmerman Restoration Trilogy Book #2)Author: Kim Vogel Sawyer Website: kimvogelsawyer/Pages: 352Year: 2015Publisher: WaterBrook PressMy Rating: 5+ starsWow! The story line continues with Alexa starting a bed and breakfast business inside her grandmother’s home while her mother returned to Indiana. Now with weather getting colder having guests is a major concern for Alexa as she strikes out to prove her calling. In Chicago a reporter is attempting to finagle his bo [...]

    13. This is the second book in The Restoration Trilogy. If you haven't read the first book, you will be very, very confused. This is an excellent series. This book is told from four POV's. The setting is a modern day Old Order Mennonite community. We have Alexa, her cousin, Anna Grace, the reporter Briley and Anna Grace's fiance, Steven. This book picks up soon after the first one ends. Alexa is living with her grandmother and has opened her B&B. She has learned she is not her mother's biological [...]

    14. Kim Vogel Sawyer is one of my favorite authors. I am always sure that when I open one of her books that I will love it. "When Grace Sings" is her newest novel and it starts where "When Mercy Rains" ended. This is one series that it is definitely beneficial to read in order. There is a lot of family history and details that enhance the story and if you skip the first book I think it would be much harder to fully grasp the family dynamics. I loved the first book and I had been waiting patiently fo [...]

    15. Briley Forrester, hotshot big city reporter, is in the tiny Old Order Mennonite town of Arborville to dig up some dirt on the residents. He and his boss think there must be more to the story than the outward appearance of these people. He stays at the Bed and Breakfast run by Alexa Zimmerman. She's not Old Order Mennonite but she lives plain since her extended family, the Zimmerman's are. Both Briley and Alexa have issues from the past that haunt them. Briley was abandoned at 5 and raised in fos [...]

    16. Deb’s Dozen: When Grace Sings, Lives Change, Sins are Forgiven, True Happiness is FoundBriley Forrester, a foster kid still searching for acceptance as an adult, works for a scandal mag. He comes up with the idea of finding the “dirt” behind the Plain life of an Old Order Mennonite Community and convinces his boss he should go there, live in the community, and see what he can find.Alexa Zimmerman wonders if the community will ever accept her with her history. She’s come to Arborville to [...]

    17. This is a novel about Old Order Mennonite families in a small community in Kansas. The author expresses herself beautifully through her writing. She says the simplest things so elegantly. For instance, in the first paragraph of Chapter 18 instead of writing that Briley's cynicism had disappeared or vanished, Ms. Sawyer writes, " . . . Briley's cynicism had packed a bag and moved to another state." This type of writing is engaging and leaves me wanting to read more. One of the main themes running [...]

    18. If you’ve been reading my blog long, you know I LOVE Kim Vogel Sawyer’s books. I think I have done more reviews of her books than any other author! In fact, I just checked and there are 18 reviews of her books on my blog rosemccauley so check it out with my search engine if you want to read more. And I had already read several of her books before I ever started my blog! She was one of the first authors I met at my first ACFW conference in Kansas City, MO in 2002, and we have been friends eve [...]

    19. I don't know how Mrs. Sawyer comes up with her story lines but she has out done herself again. Book 2 of The Zimmerman Restoration Trilogy entitled When Grace Sings continues the story of the Zimmerman family. Alexa who found out a secret that her mother was keeping in book one and learns about Anna-Grace. Alexa opens a B & B after making repairs to her grandmothers house which is named Grace Notes. Her first guest is a reporter from Chicago, Briley Forester who is there to find out any secr [...]

    20. One of the things I like the most about the author's stories is that she truly has a gift of words. She has the ability to write in a way that you are humbled and feel the grace, belief, and hope instilled in her characters. She never preaches. Her characters are soft, kind, and humble yet strong and loving, with a gift of leading non believers and the lost to faith. You feel peaceful right along with being entertained each time you read on of her novels. This book offers the reader a unique look [...]

    21. I recently had the opportunity to review this new book by Kim Vogel Sawyer. She is one of my favorite authors and I have read all of her previous books. She has a knack for making even Amish books interesting:) This one is a little bit different and I found myself somewhat confused at times, just because there are soo many characters to keep track of and how they are all related. Still, it was a good book to read and I enjoyed it.There are not really two main characters like in your typical fict [...]

    22. My daughter turned me on to this series after she read the first book and I feel so blessed to be able to read them too. This wonderful series by Kim Vogel Sawyer has certainly earned a place on my bookshelf. This is not the first story I have read about old-order Mennonites… I have read several books about similar communities and enjoyed them nearly as much as I enjoy reading about my beloved Amish communities. This series has been a surprise for me — nothing like either of the novels I’ve r [...]

    23. This review is also posted on Book by Book. The second book in Kim Vogel Sawyer’s Zimmerman Restoration series, When Grace Sings picks up a few months after the end of When Mercy Rains, focusing around Alexa and her brand-new bed-and-breakfast, introducing new characters and revisiting familiar ones. With more family secrets to uncover within an intriguing plotline and great character development, this second novel certainly continues the series well and will not disappoint readers (leaving the [...]

    24. Alexa Zimmerman’s bed-and-breakfast is now open in her grandmother’s farmhouse. With business slow, she accepts a long-term stay from a city reporter, Briley, who is there to unearth the dirt on the Mennonite way of life. Although courteous, Briley remains on continual alert for a juicy story. Alexa, who was introduced in a prior story (When Mercy Rains), has such a story. The other key players for this story are Anna-Grace and Stephen who are published to be married soon. They are leaving t [...]

    25. I did not realize this was part of a series until I had started it, but I chose to forge on and actually read the prior book after I finished this one. Yes for background it would have been a little useful, but for the most part this book stands alone very well. The characters are easy to imagine and I found myself sympathizing with both Alexa and Anna-Grace throughout the book. I have very little knowledge of the Mennonite religion and lifestyle outside another books series or two, but the male [...]

    26. When Grace Sings by Kim Vogel Sawyer was a sweet romance story. This book was slow in the beginning but it did pick up after a few chapters. I love how she tells you who is talking when the narrator changes throughout the whole book. I like when authors do that because than it makes it easier to read because you don’t have to try and guess who is talking. I wasn’t a huge fan of Briley throughout most of the book and I am honestly not sure why but he just got on my nerves. Towards the end I d [...]

    27. “When Grace Sings” by Kim Vogel Sawyer is the second book in the Zimmerman Restoration Trilogy. The family secrets keep coming. In this novel, Alexa Zimmerman has opened a bed and breakfast in her grandmother’s old home. One of her long-term boarders is a journalist who has ulterior motives for being in Arborville. Also coming to the community is Anna-Grace, a cousin of Alexa’s, who is planning on marrying Steven. Secrets, both from the past and in the present, abound among the novel’s [...]

    28. This is the second book in The Zimmerman Restoration Trilogy. In this book Alexa has opened her B and B. Anna Grace is planning on marrying Stephend she learns that her birth parents live in the town that they might live in once they are married Anna Grace needs to learn if she can live in a town with the people she feels abandoned her. During this Alexa takes in a reporter who wants to write a big story . This story is well written and has a few twists and turns. I am greatly looking forward to [...]

    29. This is another excellent book by Kim Vogel Sawyer. I love her ability to take a serious topic, or in this case topics, and turn it into a story of grace, mercy and forgiveness. Heartbreak, betrayal, and secrets abound in this story, just as they did in the first. The author adds sparks of humor and moments of sweetness to keep the story from being too heavy and the plot flowing effortlessly. Read my full review: faithlovebooks/20

    30. This is the second part in Sawyer’s trilogy. I have ordered book 3 from the library. Little of Suzzanne in this book; more development of Alexa, Paul, Anna-Grace. Introduction of Briley Forrester, a reporter from Chicago, and Samuel, Anna-Grace’s betrothed. Alexa, the B & B, and the old Mennonite community in Arborville, Kansas are the main characters along with Abigail, grandmother. I miss Suzzanne and that is the reason for the lower rating.
