    1. Having once been a rock 'n' roll princess and now as a mother having a rock 'n' roll princess I could relate to this story on so many levels. I loved the witty heroine Stefani who like any 6th grader is still finding her style and learning how to be confident in her own shoes. The language and writing style is entertaining with so many moments throughout that capture very real life situations. A deeper meaning is brought across when various events have Stefani learning so much more than just how [...]

    2. This is a fine example of a normal family dealing with normal things. Stefani is a very likable character who, even though she is teased at school for always wearing black, is pretty darn confident in herself and who she is. She has a good friend in Gabi and a father she adores. Her real issue is with her mother who has become preoccupied taking care of her new baby bother. After being an only child for 12 years, its understandable that Stenfani would feel neglected by her mother and jealous of [...]

    3. This is such a fun book! I loved Stefi as a character - she is so real and concerned with exactly the things 6th graders are concerned with. I also really loved the relationship Stefi had with her parents - it's nice to see a realistic and loving relationship that still has flaws. A great read!!

    4. Stefani is a self-confident sixth grader, who knows what she likes: music and wearing black. Her look on life is very true to her age and a lot of fun to follow. She's spunky, spirited and even has a couple flaws. The biggest of these is the jealousy toward her baby brother. Although her feelings seemed a little extreme sometimes, I believe girls that age will totally feel for Stefani. The beginning chapters focus mostly on Stefani's dissatisfaction with her brother, her parents and a bunch of gi [...]

    5. Stefani Lucas's family loves Rock "N" Roll and in her family wearing black is nothing to be ashamed of and does not mean you are a "Goth Girl" or weird as Rock N Roll chicks wear black. Stefani though is getting teased and bullied by the other girls in her class as they think she should wear some colours , but what will happen though when she does try and it all backfires with things turning terribly wrong. Though about halfway through the novel, Stefani will get a surprise when she discovers th [...]

    6. Rock 'n' Roll Princesses Wear Black is filled with fun, laughter, lots of heart, and, yes, quite a few winks to rock music. I related to Stefani in so many ways, having worn--and still wear-- a lot of black, as well as the fact my sister and I are ten years apart in age. (She was born when I was eleven--almost the same age as Stefani). So, yes, the book hit home! Plus, Stefani's parents are really cool.Kelly, the author, brought me right back to middle school with an authentic pre-teen voice and [...]

    7. I totally "get" this book! I may not have been a rock and roll princess when I was 12, but I could relate to the main character, Stefani, so much. Wearing a lot of black, not being all that girly, and not particularly caring about what the other girls were into, etc. I love when a main character in a book is different and comfortable with being different.I also loved all the music references. As a big fan of rock music, I grinned every time a band I liked was mentioned. This was a fun and fast r [...]

    8. Stefani is a middle grade rocker who loves to wear black, despite the pressure and teasing from her peers to wear some color. She also has an annoying little brother when she’s used to being the only child. This is a fun book with realistic pre-teen struggles. A rock lover myself, I appreciated the rock ‘n’ roll references.

    9. I've read lots of good things about this book and I am thoroughly excited to get started with it! I can't wait to read it!

    10. Stefani is a rock ‘n’ roll princess learning to deal with real world situations of being in the 6th grade, having a baby brother who is a huge pain, and dealing with fitting in at school – which is a problem because she does not like wearing color. Stefani is a young girl trying to figure out her place but not wanting to conform to the same clothing and styles of all the other little girls at her school and in her class. She is semi-confident in her choice but also bummed; she gets made fu [...]

    11. I'm not going to rate this book but am passing it along to someone who will appreciate itokcrossing/journal/1
