    1. Though the titles of his books tend towards the lurid and incendiary, it would be a mistake to characterize C.J. Werleman as just another polemicist. Behind the rhetoric you’ll find Werleman provides a thoughtful and serious examination of issues while still managing write in a way that is both entertaining and funny. Werleman has written several well researched critiques of the errors and inconsistencies found in the bible. In Crucifying America: The Unholy Alliance Between the Christian Righ [...]

    2. Crucifying America: The Unholy Alliance between the Christian Right and Wall Street by CJ Werleman“Crucifying America" is an appeal to free thinkers to mobilize against the most dangerous threat to America, the Christian Right. This well-paced book examines how the alliance between the Christian Right and corporations are winning in terms of imposing their will and agenda on practically every key political issue. Columnist and author, CJ Werleman is fast becoming a secularist favorite. His irr [...]

    3. Crucifying American was a difficult book to read. While the content itself was not difficult, Werleman makes excellent points in a journalistic (read statistical) way, his presentation of the material was amateur at best and boorish at worst, relying on Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh tactics to get his point across. The title is also misleading. Werleman spends an inordinate amount of time presenting political situations, conspiracies and examples of extraordinarily bad leadership while building t [...]

    4. Too late?Almost everything this book predicted has come to pass with the election of Donald Trump. Our country may be beyond saving and Gilead might be just months away.

    5. Werleman offers his readers many hard-hitting observations and insights that link contemporary political, social and economic developments with the dominance of Christian evangelical religion in the GOP and the South. His tone is refreshingly frank, untamed and unapologetic in a climate of discourse that is all too-often dominated by wishy-washy tripe. However, he occasionally seems unnecessarily inflammatory and takes the opportunity to score rhetorical flourishes at the detriment of his writin [...]

    6. I'd give this book five stars if only it weren't written so poorly. I would have liked a more professional proofreading, better formatting, and direct references cited in the text and not simply thrown together in the back of the book. Also, I would have appreciated more from the author toward the end, suggestions as to *what* exactly he has in mind to mobilize those of us who NEED to mobilize. Please don't just throw this information at us; one merely has to log on to Facebook, Tumblr or any nu [...]

    7. This is a great book. It reads like a "Best of the Rachel Maddow Show" transcript volume, with a bit more harsh and and anti-religious language that you can't get away with on basic cable. The fact that Christians are in bed with the rich is something that should disturb everyone. Jesus said "woe to the rich" and "blessed are the poor" and "go and sell everything and come follow me", but they see fit to claim these verses are metaphorical while defending their literal interpretation of Genesis 1 [...]

    8. This is a book I wish everyone would read. The topic is timely and time is running out if we have any hope of reversing course.Several of the changes to American life are occurring almost without being noticed. The book contains this quote from Goethe: "None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free." That statement sums up the situation we now face with the alliance of the Christian right and the mega-corporations which seem to dominate American culture.

    9. Explains how the Christian Right via the Tea Party (and their 1% financiers) have taken over local governments. Sadly, when that means the state government, they can gerrymander Republican-winning districts that make Congress (the House, at least) not truly reflect the nation's politics.Unfortunately, the author appears to lack an editor to correct errors in grammar and punctuation. That is annoying and drives me crazy.

    10. Everyone living in the USA today should read this book. So many pieces of the puzzle are put together in a depressing and shocking manner to explain so many things that rational thinking people have difficulty understanding. The book steps back from the day-to-day to shows the forces behind so much of what is happening in the US.

    11. Great book! I clearly explained what is going on in US Politics. The religious Right has taken over the Republican party. Using wedge issues like God, guns and gays to distract people from voting in there self interest!

    12. For Americans who never read more than one book a year. This is a perfect book to throw at their face.

    13. A very interesting look at the threat to American democracy from the Christian right in alliance with big business.

    14. CJ does a great job exposing the history of the undemocratic alliance between religion and politicswith humor.
