    1. This two volume set has a place of honor on my bookshelf. I have read it multiple times and gain more with each reading. I would love to see a third volume taking us through the years from Reagan to the present, including the major restoration work during the Clinton administration and the current status of the structure. The Presidents House belongs to all of us and its history is a fascinating window on our history as a nation.

    2. Excellent and entertaining even if you aren't a big history buff. I discovered this book while reading Reagan's Diary book. In it, he mentioned reading it and finding it interesting, especially since he was living in the White House. Amazing how much the White House has been through!

It's huge (the text alone runs over 1,000 pages in two volumes), and I put it on my nightstand so I could dip into it from time to time.
