    1. This book is not like much in contemporary science fiction; indeed, it harkens back to a long gone era, the era where action was everything. Aliens, time travel, colonized planets and a space corps to keep the peace, stow-aways, cyborgs, the Titanic even! There were some modern touches--global warming plays a role.
