    1. 1/25/14 ** I wanted to like this book more than I did. It tells the story of a little girl whose father is in prison and her attempts to stay connected with his father during that time. I have had several students in the past few years who have had parents in prison, and I hoped that this book would be one that could help them feel less alone. 2. A great book for kids with a parent or parents in jail. The book is an easy read, and uses simple words to explain a complex subject. The illustrations are beautiful and go along well with the story. 3. I haven't seen any Picture Books about a parent going to prison so, when I saw this one at the library, I wanted to read it. I don't know much about the topic, but it seemed to be handled well and with sensitivity. I wonder if there really are prison Christmas parties with Santa for inmates and their families? I think it is a good idea to have Picture Books about "difficult" subjects, because not all kids have ideal lives, and a book can be a great friend to a sad child.
