    1. Owing to three high school classes in the sciences I only had to take one additional class at Grinnell College. I selected Physics, physics for liberal arts students, a class that substantially dealt with the history of the discipline and with symmetry problems. It was well taught, taught well enough that I determined to press on by means of further reading. Thus, this book.
