    1. I am a self-published author and have been since 2010. The book makes self-publishing seem harder than it should. I don't recommend printing up 500-1000 copies and keeping them in your house or garage, hoping they will sell. I have never invested money, only time. I use Smashwords and for ebooks and Lulu for print on demand. I wanted to read the book for more advice on marketing and will use some of the suggestions given in the last few chapters on marketing and copywriting. The case studies we [...]

    2. Alison Baverstock’s excellent new book is both a thoughtful exploration of self-publishing and an informative ‘how-to’ handbook. As Alison herself says, ‘Self-publishing has had a bad reputation’. Badly edited, poorly designed and amateurish books have been produced by writers who were disinclined to re-appraise or improve their work. However, modern technology is changing the publishing landscape – and fast. Serious writers are now able to buy professional services that allow them t [...]

    3. Does what it says on the tin and useful to me at the time as I was on the verge of self-publishing a book myself when I read it. However, it suffered from two main flaws: (1) the self-publishing industry is changing rapidly all the time and so the book is already out of date in places; and (2) it is full of typographical mistakes (ironic, as it contains a whole chapter devoted to the subject of proofreading!). Approach with caution therefore.

    4. I must first declare an interest - I was one of the people that the splendid Dr. Baverstock interviewed when researching this book. That aside, it is still the first, and to my knowledge only, thorough guide to the new world of independent and self-publishing. No doubt it will need updating very soon due to the speed of change in this market, but at the moment it is still very close to the cutting edge. Recommended to anyone interested in the worlds of writing and publishing.

    5. If you want to publish your own book/ebooks then this is a very handy tool to get you started which breaks everything down for you step by step.It shows the many options you can take as well as the new electronic modern world of reading that is riding fast!

    6. Very interesting and insightful book on self-publishing and publishing industry in general. Full of useful information, love it! I originally checked this out from the library. After I finish reading it, I brought a copy myself for future reference. Absolutely 5 star!

    7. I simply adore this book! It's very useful and gave me a lot of information that helped me save money! If you want to publish your own book, just read this one! It has all the useful insight you need!
